REGINA, Sask. – Hockey Saskatchewan has released a memorandum detailing the approved recommendations from the AAA/AA Committee for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

The Hockey Saskatchewan Board of Directors has approved several recommendations from the AAA/AA Committee.

The following will be in place for the 2024-25 season:

• There will be no changes to the current slate of teams for the next two years in the following age groups/divisions:
• U13 AA
• U15 AA
• AA 15 (will be changed to U16 AA)
• U18 AA

The current AA 15 League will be called U16 AA; however, the league will continue to be restricted to first-year U18 players only.

The geographic subdivisions of Moose Jaw and Prince Albert will be opened for U15 AA beginning in the 2024-25 season and therefore are now open for U15 AA, U16 AA and U18 AA only.

Governance agreements between Minor Hockey Associations that have U18 AAA Male and Female teams have been amended and must be signed for three-year periods.

Hockey Saskatchewan has created a governance template for those Male and Female AA programs which are administered on a regional basis involving multiple Minor Hockey Associations.

Due to an oversight during the Female AA review last season which left a large area of the province “exposed” to no AA program at U18 Female surrounding Regina, a U18 AA program has been awarded to Lumsden-Bethune Minor Hockey which compliments their current U13 and U15 AA programming in their Association. This now ensures that the Provincial U18 AA League consists of 12 teams, six in both the north and south.

There is one additional recommendation below the Hockey Saskatchewan Board of Directors has approved from the AAA/AA Committee.

The following will be in place regarding tryout dates for all AA hockey starting in the 2024-25 season:

• Male U16 AA                                          September 1 to September 9
• Male and Female U15 AA/U18AA          September 10 to September 20
• Male and Female U13 AA                      September 17 to September 27
