REGINA, Sask. – A memorandum has been issued regarding a call for franchise applications for the Saskatchewan Junior Female Hockey League.

• Re:        Applications Open for Saskatchewan Junior Female Hockey League Expansion

The Hockey Saskatchewan Board of Directors and the Board of Directors of the Saskatchewan Junior Female Hockey League (SJFHL) are calling for applications from communities interested in becoming a member of the Under-22 League for the fall of 2025, in addition to the six existing franchises.

Hockey Saskatchewan retains the final approval of member teams within the League.

Applications for the 2025-26 season and beyond will be accepted until April 30th, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. and can be submitted online to info@hockeysask.ca.

Applications must include the following at a minimum:

• A letter of support and working agreement with the local Minor Hockey Association to ensure ice allocation for the Junior Program.
• A description of the organization (team executive), financial status, and home arena.
• The city or town where the club will be located.
• A detailed player recruitment plan for an active roster of twenty-five (25) players, including a regional player base to ensure long-term viability.
• A qualified coaching plan, including the involvement of female coaches.
• A detailed marketing/sponsorship plan.

Application Process:

• March 27, 2025 – Hockey Saskatchewan invites applications, with a deadline of April 30, 2025.
• May 1-15, 2025 – The Hockey Saskatchewan AAA/AA Committee reviews the applications and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.
• May 15-30, 2025 – The Hockey Saskatchewan Board reviews the Committee's recommendations and approves inaugural franchises.
• June 1, 2025 – Membership is informed of the Board's decision.
