How to host Try Para Hockey Days
WHAT IS IT?
Working with the Saskatchewan Wheelchairs Sports Association, Hockey Saskatchewan is excited to offer the chance for groups to try the sport of para hockey by registering for one of our 'Try Para Hockey Day' events.
COST?
Free! However, the host is responsible for the cost of the ice.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Anyone! Participants can be either able-bodied or have a disability. All participants on the ice must have head protection (i.e. a helmet).
WHERE & WHEN?
Anytime! Any rink that has ice available in the regular- or off-season can be a venue.
INSTRUCTION?
Each event offers instruction via a Hockey Saskatchewan instructor. This instructor will help participants get situated into a sled as well as teach the basics of para hockey such as how to accelerate, turn, shoot and stop.
SLEDS?
Hockey Saskatchewan has 25 sets of sleds & sticks that can be used by participants during an event.
WHO CAN HOST?
These camps can be hosted by any registered para hockey club in Saskatchewan. The application to host one of these events is available in the Minor Hockey Association (MHA) Toolbox.
