During the 2025-26 season, Hockey Saskatchewan has teamed up with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) and U SPORTS to give young officials the opportunity to step onto the ice as the 5th Official during select games.

This recognition experience allows developing officials to meet the game’s officiating crew, observe their preparation, and join them on the ice for the national anthem — offering a first-hand look at high-level hockey environments early in their officiating journey.
