SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. – In a heartfelt commitment to community development, the Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame (SHHOF) host committee is proud to announce a donation of $22,246.26 to two deserving non-profit organizations in Swift Current.

This donation stems from proceeds raised during the successful induction dinner held on July 12, 2024, at the InnovationPlex, celebrating the outstanding achievements of the latest Class of Inductees.

“To see our names in the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame alongside the likes of Gordie Howe, Johnny Bower, Glenn Hall, and Bryan Trottier, to name a few, is surreal,” said SHHOF Inductee Ross Mahoney at the event. “A lot of people take away from the game of hockey but never give back. Saskatchewan people have always been givers. We do it because it's the right thing to do.”

Hockey Saskatchewan, in partnership with the City of Swift Current, operates the Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame, which has hosted three induction banquets to date (2012, 2018, and 2024). The profits from these events are shared with the host community, allowing the committee to decide how their portion will benefit local initiatives while the other half supports the operational costs of the Hall of Fame.

The recent donation will benefit the Southwest Facility Foundation as well as the Swift Current Minor Hockey Association, both receiving $11,123.13 each. This financial support aligns with the committee's mission to foster local growth and development.

“The committee is proud to work with Hockey Saskatchewan and contribute to Swift Current Minor Hockey and the Southwest Facility Foundation,” said Jim Jones, a member of the host committee. “It’s time to build.”

Hockey Saskatchewan would like to extend its sincere thanks to the dedicated host committee members of the 2024 SHHOF Induction Dinner: Tracy Tangen, Kurtis Nicholson, Betty McDougall, Lynne Jones, Heather Tangen, Wendy Tuchscherer, Melissa Shaw, Jim Jones, Scott Cassidy, Michael Olfert, and George Bowditch.

Since its opening in 2012, the Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame has aimed to preserve and celebrate the history of hockey in the province, painting a vibrant picture of monumental careers and achievements in the sport.

An announcement regarding the 12th edition of the SHHOF Induction Dinner, set for the summer of 2025, will be made in the early months of the new year.
