REGINA, Sask. – Hockey Saskatchewan has established a partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a U.S.-based national non-profit organization focused on providing positive, character-building sports experiences.

This partnership gives Hockey Saskatchewan access to PCA’s training resources for coaches, sports parents, athletes, and administrators through live group workshops, online courses, and additional online materials, including follow-up tips and reminders on using sports as a positive tool for youth development.

PCA has partnered with approximately 3,500 schools, districts, conferences, youth sports organizations, and parks-and-recreation departments to create a Development Zone® culture, aimed at fostering a positive youth sports experience in both youth and high school sports.

"Coaches are among the most influential adults in a young person's life. Through this partnership, PCA's first in the province of Saskatchewan, we are excited to provide valuable positive youth development training for Hockey Saskatchewan coaches, helping them develop competitors while amplifying their focus on teaching life skills," said Jason Sacks, President of Positive Coaching Alliance. "We also look forward to working directly with a few local hockey associations in Saskatchewan to enhance their focus on creating a positive culture for their families."

“Hockey Saskatchewan is excited to partner with Positive Coaching Alliance to provide our coaches, parents, athletes, and officials with resources that promote positive development through social-emotional learning,” said Hockey Saskatchewan Senior Manager, Culture and Inclusion, Faye Matt. “This collaboration strengthens our commitment to creating welcoming environments and building a positive sport culture across the province.”

Hockey Saskatchewan members can access Positive Coaching Alliance resources by visiting the PCA Resource Zone at https://positivecoach.org/resource-zone/ for ongoing tools and materials to support coaches, parents, athletes, and officials.
