Hockey Saskatchewan Announces Roster for 2024 National Women’s U18 Championship

REGINA, Sask. – Hockey Saskatchewan is proud to unveil the 20-player roster set to represent the province at the 2024 National Women’s Under-18 Championship (NWU-18), scheduled to take place from November 3 to 9 in Quispamsis, N.B.

This talented group of athletes will compete on the national stage, carrying the hopes of Saskatchewan as they face off against the best U18 female players from across the country. With a blend of experienced returnees and rising stars, Team Saskatchewan is poised for a strong showing.

Among the team are six returning players from the 2023 championship tournament: Ava Drabyk (Saskatoon), Kate Williams (Milestone), Kolbee Ashe (Warman), Addison Greve (Weyburn), Berlin Lolacher (Regina) and Stryker Zablocki (Prince Albert). These athletes bring valuable experience and leadership, having competed at the highest level last season.

“This roster showcases the depth of talent and dedication within our high-performance program,” said Joel Houseman, Director of Operations for Sask First. “These athletes have poured themselves into their training over the past three seasons, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to excellence. We are incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved so far and excited to see them take this next step on Canada’s stage.”

The National Women’s Under-18 Championship brings together eight provincial and regional teams: Alberta, Atlantic, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario Blue, Ontario Red, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. This prestigious tournament serves as a proving ground for Canada’s future hockey stars and a stepping stone toward international competition, including the opportunity to wear the Team Canada jersey in years to come.

The 2024 tournament will kick off with a round-robin phase, followed by playoffs, all held at the qplex Arena. Team Saskatchewan will open their campaign on Sunday, November 3 at 10:00 a.m. AT, taking on Team Atlantic.

Leading the team behind the bench will be head coach Alana Serhan, alongside assistant coaches Paige Sandvold and Laurie Alexander. The staff also includes video coach Courtney Mish, goaltending coach Angela Mallory, equipment manager Josh Brown, athletic therapist Emma Galloway, and mental performance consultant Kyle McDonald.
