Hockey Saskatchewan Announces Education Grant Winners from 2023-24 Season

REGINA, Sask. – Hockey Saskatchewan is proud to award Education Assistance Program Grants to 17 members for the 2023-24 season, encouraging their commitment to pursuing post-secondary studies at institutions within the province.
Unlike athletic scholarships, these grants are specifically aimed at supporting our members—including players, coaches, referees, and linespersons—as they pursue academic goals close to home.
Through this program, recipients can apply their grants toward tuition and textbooks at Saskatchewan-based post-secondary institutions. This year’s grant winners span all regions of the province, with six of the recipients being female.
The following Hockey Saskatchewan members have been awarded a $1,000 grant to support their future studies:

The Education Assistance Program awards up to 21 grants annually across multiple categories, recognizing eligible players, coaches, officials, and female U18 AAA players from all regions. This season, 50 applications were received, a slight increase over the previous year.
Since its inception in 1990-91, this program has provided over 420 grants, totaling more than $421,000, to assist with educational costs. Funded by the Hockey Saskatchewan Scholarship Fund, established with a surplus from the 1991 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship held in Saskatchewan, this initiative highlights Hockey Saskatchewan’s ongoing support of its members’ academic growth.
