REGINA, Sask. - The Sask First Bantam Program is open annually to all second-year Bantam players in the province. All players are invited to attend a zone camp, where they are provided with a fair and equal opportunity to continue in the program.
During the initial zone camp, a team of twenty players will be selected to represent their zone in March, where the eight zone teams compete against each other.
Following this tournament, forty top players (24 forwards, 12 defensemen, and 4 goaltenders) are invited to a summer camp focused on technical, physical, and mental preparation.
The summer camp consists of 42 players, including 6 goaltenders, 12 defensemen, and 24 forwards, all of whom have just completed their second year of Bantam. From this group, Team Saskatchewan will be selected to represent the province at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, B.C. The Canada Games occur every four years. In non-Games years, Team Saskatchewan competes at the Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup. The 2014 Summer Camp was held in Wilcox from July 23-27, 2014, at the College of Notre Dame.
