The Saskatchewan Jr Hockey League would like to announce that Brad Howard is the Referee in Chief for the SJHL.
Brad’s officiating career, started as a young official and worked through the system obtaining Level 6. At the age of 18, became involved with Jr. A Hockey and has continued to actively be involved as a linesman, referee and supervisor with the SJHL. Brad has also had other opportunities as a RIC and supervisor with the World Under-17 Challenge (3 times), Royal Bank Cup (3 times), the CIS Championships and this year at the Jr. A Challenge. Brad was also honoured to be the officials’ representative on the Speak Out initiative in 1997.
At the branch level, Brad has had numerous opportunities and roles from a Zone Co-ordinator to SHA RIC. During the past 27 years on the Branch Executive, Brad has been the Clinic Coordinator, Southern Representative of Officials and the RIC. Brad is proud of the work with the Saskatchewan Officiating Development Model which tracks and provides support to officials through the provincial leagues to reach their full potential, hopefully to the Jr level.
As President of the SJHL we are very fortunate to have Brad become the RIC for the league, through the Saskatchewan development model for officiating, Brad will be able to continue to oversee the development of officials in Saskatchewan and provide them with opportunities to the WHL and beyond.
