Registration Exemption
A Registration Exemption (formerly Concession) is a request to bypass an existing Hockey Saskatchewan regulation for the current season. These are reviewed by the Hockey Saskatchewan Registration Committee.
Step 1 – Confirm Eligibility
Registration Exemptions may be submitted when a player:
-
Has been denied a release by their Minor Hockey Association.
-
Wishes to play outside their allowable radius.
-
Wants to register with a team outside of Saskatchewan.
-
Minor Hockey Associations may also request a blanket Registration Exemption (e.g., for a goaltender shortage).
Step 2 – Submit the Application Below
Each application must include:
-
A $50 non-refundable fee.
-
A written explanation of the request and reasoning.
All applications must be submitted by:
-
The individual player (or their guardian).
-
Or a Minor Hockey Association / Senior Team.
Step 3 – Committee Review
-
The Registration Committee meets every second Wednesday during the season.
-
Off-season requests are reviewed in August.
-
Your Registration Exemption request will be reviewed within 14 days of receiving the form and payment.
Step 4 – Notification of Decision
-
You will receive a written decision within 7 days of the committee’s ruling.
-
If approved, the concession is valid for the current season only.
The decision of the Registration Committee is final and binding.
