Muench Elelcted to Hall

HUMBOLDT, Sask. – The Western Hockey League would like to congratulate Director of Officiating Kevin Muench who was inducted into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame in the Officials category at a ceremony in Humboldt this evening.
Muench is entering his 14th season as the WHL’s Director of Officiating and has been involved with the League in a supervisory capacity since his retirement from on-ice officiating in 1995. The Humboldt, SK product also served as a referee in the WHL from 1983-1995.
“The WHL and our Member Clubs would like to congratulate Kevin on this tremendous honour,” commented WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. “The commitment Kevin and his wife, Viv, have demonstrated to the Western Hockey League and game of hockey over the years has been nothing short of outstanding. In addition, Kevin’s continued dedication to his home province of Saskatchewan makes him a very worthy recipient this evening.”
In addition to his current post with the WHL Office, Muench works closely with Hockey Canada’s Officiating Program of Excellence. As an on-ice official, some of Muench’s career highlights included several National Championships and representing Canada at the 1992 Olympic Winter Games in France.
