Hockey Regina Hires Jenna Merk as Technical Director

REGINA, Sask. - Jenna brings a wealth of on and off ice experience that will prove to be a great asset to the organization as we advance our strategic plan with this role's immediate focus on the priority of Coach Selection, Development, and Mentorship. Jenna will also add great value to the newly created Evaluations & Team Formation Committee and the Female Hockey Growth & Development Committee.
Jenna played U-Sport Hockey with an impressive career, captaining the University of Regina Cougar Women’s team, being awarded the Canada West Student-Athlete Community Service Award, the University of Regina Presidents Award and being an Academic All-Canadian. On ice Jenna has worked with hockey players from 3 years old learning to skate to elite level collegiate players; she has coached both minor hockey and is an assistant coach with the Cougar Women’s Hockey Program.
Off the ice Jenna is a mentor in Hockey Canada’s Creating Coaches Program and a mentee in the CAC High Performance Women in Coaching Program. Educationally she holds a Bachelor of Science with a major in Chemistry and minor in Kinesiology and is finishing a Masters of Science with a focus in Synthetic Organic Chemistry. She is currently an undergraduate lab instructor, and runs her own hockey school.
Jenna brings a positive, thoughtful and inclusive approach with a strong comprehension of data and research; perspectives and experience that we look forward to being integrated with our existing and new programming.
Jenna will begin part time with the organization March 1st and transition into full time beginning May 1st.
