Tigers Prospect Liam Ruck Sores Twice as BC downs Saskatchewan at WHL Cup

RED DEER, Alta. – Two goals from Liam Ruck (Medicine Hat Tigers / Osoyoos, B.C.) helped deliver Team B.C. a 4-2 win over Team Saskatchewan Wednesday evening at the 2023 WHL Cup presented by FPS Payment.
Ruck, who was selected ninth overall by the Tigers in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, gave Team B.C. its first lead of the game with a power-play effort midway through the second period. He then put the game on ice with an empty-net tally in the dying moments of the third period.
Forward Kai Anderson (Vancouver Giants / North Vancouver, B.C.) registered the game-winning goal 12:59 into the third period, breaking a 2-2 deadlock.
Left winger Lucas Benn (Kamloops Blazers / Cloverdale, B.C.) provided the other marker for Team B.C., tying the game 1-1 in the second period.
Team Saskatchewan opened the scoring thanks to Beckett Hamilton (Red Deer Rebels / Saskatoon, Sask.) finding the back of the net 6:10 into the second period.
Centre Cohen Klassen (Regina Pats / Martensville, Sask.) provided the other goal for Team Saskatchewan.
In net, it was Micah Davidson (Moose Jaw Warriors / Kelowna, B.C.) making 32 saves to earn the win for Team B.C. At the other end of the rink, Jackson Dunn (Regina, Sask.) stopped 21 pucks for Team Saskatchewan.
Coming up Thursday at the 2023 WHL Cup, Team Saskatchewan will look to find the win column when they take on Team Alberta at 7 p.m. MT, while Team B.C. faces Team Manitoba at 4:15 p.m. MT.
