UPDATE: The 2023 SHHOF Induction Dinner will take place at the Meadow Lake Golf Club. This article has been updated to reflect the new venue information.

MEADOW LAKE, Sask.  The Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame (SHHOF) along with Hockey Saskatchewan are proud to announce the host community and class of 2023 for the 10th annual Induction Dinner.

This summer, the Induction Dinner will take place in Meadow Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25th, 2023, at the Meadow Lake Golf Club. The evening will be a celebration highlighting the careers and accomplishments of the five (5) inductees and one (1) team that are worthy of this achievement.

Those chosen to be enshrined into the Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023 are as follows:

Player Category:

  • Jeff Friesen
  • Wade Redden
  • Ron Greschner

Builder/Grassroots Category:

  • King family (Dayna King, D.J. King, Dwight King and Danene Kopperud)

Official Category:

  • Mark Wheler

Team Category:

  • 2005-06/2007-08 Meadow Lake Stampeders

“This marks the first time in nearly three years that we have the privilege of announcing a new group of exceptional individuals for induction into the Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame. We are very excited to be bringing the Induction Class of 2023 and this event to northern Saskatchewan for the first time since the SHHOF’s inception in 2012,” stated Hockey Saskatchewan General Manager Kelly McClintock.

The Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Dinner operates with a chosen host committee to put on the event. Proceeds from the event are split evenly amongst the two groups to help fund the yearly SHHOF operations as well as the local host community’s chosen initiative which, in this case, is building a new rink after the Meadow Lake and District Arena burnt down in June 2021.

"That would be my only arena, here in Meadow Lake, that I played in minor hockey. … That’s where all my memories were made in all my childhood games and practices," two-time Stanley Cup champion Dwight King said. “In general, there's just a lot of history, a lot of good memories for myself personally growing up there. … It's been tough, to be honest, especially for the kids. One rink for our size of a city and surrounding area is stretched pretty thin.”

Last year’s SHHOF Induction Dinner took place in Yorkton and raised $44,824 for the local Junior hockey club.

The banquet in Meadow Lake will feature TSN Sportscaster Darren “Dutchy” Dutchyschen who will serve as emcee for the night's festivities.

Tickets ranging from $50.00 (Individual) to $350.00 (Table of 8), plus applicable fees, are available for purchase HERE. Tickets can also be purchased at the Meadow Lake Aquatic Centre located at 615 Centre Street.

This year will mark the second time in Zone Seven (7) for the SHHOF annual Induction Dinner.
