Saskatchewan Under-16 Roster Released

REGINA, Sask. – The Saskatchewan Hockey Association is pleased to announce the 20 Saskatchewan – born players selected to the Male U-16 Team Saskatchewan roster. Team Saskatchewan will compete at the Western Canada Under-16 Hockey Challenge in Calgary, Alberta October 31- November 3, 2013.
19 of the 20 players named to Team Saskatchewan were selected in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft, including defenceman Jeffrey Faith and forward Kaden Elder, who were chosen in the first round.

The selection process for the team is completed through the Sask First Program of Excellence (POE) each season. The U-16 process began in February 2013 with players competing for a roster spot on their designated zone team which moves onto the Sask First Zone tournament. From there the top 42 U16 players were chosen to attend Summer Camp at Notre Dame in Wilcox and the top 26 then attended a September camp in Wilcox where final decisions were made.
The final 20 player roster has 14 different communities represented from across Saskatchewan. The team will meet in Regina before leaving to Calgary for the competition October 30, 2013.
