June 2, 2021 – The Saskatchewan Hockey Association (SHA) along with the Sask First High-Performance program have tentatively scheduled events for the Sask First’ Male Under-15, Female Under-16 and Female Under-18 age groups. The plan is subject to reaching public health thresholds as part of phase three in the Government of Saskatchewan’s Re-Opening Road Map. The two (2) event weekends have been planned for late-July and early-August at the Lumdsen Rink.
The Male Under-15 program which is open to 2006 born athletes in Saskatchewan would take place July 30 to August 1, 2021.
The Female Under-16 and Female Under-18 programs would run simultaneously on August 6 to August 8, 2021. Under-16 is open to all 2006 and 2007 born players in the province while Under-18 is open to all 2004 and 2005 born players.
SASK FIRST PROVINCIAL EVENTS – AUGUST 2021 |
All three age groups would participate in a modified program from the traditional Sask First, with a concentrated camp and scrimmage format. In addition, given current guidelines, all participants would be responsible for their own hotel (if applicable) and meals. With the WHL Cup and National Women’s Under-18 events planned for this upcoming season, the Male Under-15 and Female Under-18 events would ultimately yield a selection of the top 30 players that would carry forward to the Team Saskatchewan program. The Female Under-16 program for this age group would operate in a development capacity this year.
- Male Under-15 July 30 to August 1 Lumsden, SK
- Female Under-16 August 6 to August 8 Lumsden, SK
- Female Under-18 August 6 to August 8 Lumsden, SK
*All events are tentative and subject to approval from the Business Response Team
For registration, this is expected to open once we have received confirmation from the Business Response Team and these details will be communicated through the SHA website. More information regarding both of these events will be provided as they become available.
