Lloydminster Border Kings Win 2007 Allan Cup

STONY PLAIN, Alta. - Dalyn Fallscheer, Dallas Fallscheer, Scott Hood and Scott Wagner all scored goals as the Lloydminster Border Kings won their first Allan Cup since 2001 with a 4-3 win over the Whitby Dunlops on Saturday night in Stony Plain, AB.
Cory McEachern turned aside 35 shots for the Border Kings, who dropped their first game of the tournament to the Bentley Generals before reeling off four straight wins to be crowned Canadian Senior AAA champions.
Justin Cardwell, Matt Cardwell and Jay McAuley scored for the Ontario-champion Dunlops, who lost in the national final for the second year in a row – they fell 7-1 to the host Regals last year in Powell River, BC.
The Border Kings won three one-goal games to win the championship, including a 5-4 win over the host Eagles in Friday night’s semi-final.
Cole Fern finished as the Border Kings’ leading scorer, putting up eight points (1 goal, 7 assists) in five games. Whitby’s Shane McCosh won the tournament scoring title, with nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) in five games.
