Hurricanes Prospect Beuker Boosts Saskatchewan to OT Win Over Alberta at WHL Cup

RED DEER, Alta. – Dayne Beuker scored 3:58 into overtime as Team Saskatchewan completed the come-from-behind victory, edging Team Alberta by a 3-2 tally Thursday evening at the 2023 WHL Cup presented by FPS Payment.
Beuker (Lethbridge Hurricanes / Humboldt, Sask.) registered his second goal of the tournament to propel Saskatchewan to a much-needed win, after they dropped their opening game to B.C.
After Team Alberta had built a 2-0 lead, it was Beuker who kickstarted the comeback for Saskatchewan. His first goal of the tournament came in the late stages of the second period, pulling Saskatchewan within a goal heading into the third period.
Jonah Sivertson (Prince Albert Raiders / Regina, Sask.) scored his first goal of the tournament 8:31 into the third period, tying the game 2-2.

Between the pipes, Saskatchewan netminder Madex Kabrud (Kamloops Blazers/ Saskatoon, Sask.) stood tall, turning aside 39 of the 41 shots sent his way.
At the other end of the rink, Carter Esler (Spokane Chiefs / Okotoks, Alta.) made 27 saves in defeat.
With the win Saskatchewan improves to 1-1-0, while Alberta falls to 1-0-1.
Saskatchewan will seek out a second win Friday afternoon when they take on Team Manitoba at 4:15 p.m. MT. For Team Alberta, they will look for a bounce-back performance against Team B.C. in the Friday evening contest at 7 p.m. MT.
