ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Hockey Saskatchewan is the governing body for organized hockey in the province, representing over 53,000 players, coaches, officials, and volunteers across 180 Minor Hockey Associations. With a mission of Advancing Hockey Through Innovation, Engagement and Participation, the organization supports all levels of the game, from recreational to high performance, while promoting values of fun, safety, community, respect, inclusivity, and wellness. As a member of Hockey Canada, Hockey Saskatchewan plays a key role in shaping provincial policy, developing coaches and officials, and ensuring equitable opportunities for participants. The organization also administers championships, tournaments, and development programs, serving as a unifying voice for hockey in Saskatchewan.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Senior Manager Operations, the Coordinator, Membership shall administrate the activities associated with the Members of Hockey Saskatchewan in the areas of: creation of welcoming environments within Minor Hockey Associations; membership development and standards in the area of governance, code of conduct, conduct management, social impact, equity, diversity & inclusion; administration of the Hockey Saskatchewan Safe Sport Policy; serve as a liaison for Indigenous hockey to assist in the development and administration of governing Indigenous Hockey Associations/Leagues; assisting in the review, writing and amending of policy within Hockey Saskatchewan.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.             Membership Services

To provide guidance and assistance to Members, Minor Hockey Associations and Leagues in the following areas:

  • Creation of a welcoming environment.
  • Development of governance templates for Minor Hockey Associations and Leagues.
  • Development of templates in the area of code of conduct and conduct management.

2.           Culture & Inclusion

  • Champion and drive culture improvement and inclusion for all participants.
  • Develop and deliver social impact initiatives, fostering a sense of inclusivity and belonging.
  • Facilitate and educate various groups within the Hockey Saskatchewan Membership on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Evaluate and enhance policies and programs to promote representation and participation of diverse individuals within the province.

3.         Governance & Policy Oversight

  • To provide guidance to the Hockey Saskatchewan General Manager (GM) and Board of Directors (Board) on policy development and cultural enhancement.
  • Review and improve existing governance artifacts, policies, and procedures.
  • Create new policies and procedures as directed by the GM and Board.
  • Review and enhance internal policy/procedures, including HR-oriented documents.

4.          Indigenous Hockey

  • To engage with the Indigenous communities in the province to assist in the development of governing documents for Indigenous Hockey Associations and Leagues.

5.            Other Duties

  • To contribute to the Hockey Saskatchewan staff operational plan and strategic plan.
  • To sit on committees of Hockey Saskatchewan and Hockey Canada as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the GM.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A strong growth mindset and a willingness to challenge the status quo.
  • Familiarity with non-profit and management of best practices.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor Degree in business administration or a relevant field.
  • Commitment to continuous educational advancements.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Able to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Cellphone and laptop provided by Hockey Saskatchewan.
  • Compensation range: $47,268.00 - $63,950.00.
  • Pension plan with employer matching.
