MHA Matching Grant Application

The MHA Grant Program supports MHAs with the cost of hiring power skating instructors or training a local person to become a power skating instructor.

Receipts must indicate a purchase made by the Member Association (MHA) for eligible expenses related to hiring power skating instructors or having a local person trained to become a power skating instructor.

Power skating services must be targeted towards the Under-7 to Under-13 age groups within an MHA and must occur between September 2026 and January 2027.

Power skating instructors must complete Respect in Sport activity leader / Hockey Canada's Shift Forward Program and hold one of the five approved certifications below:

Certified Skills Coach (Level 3) - Delivered by Hockey Canada
Hockey Saskatchewan Skills Licensee
CanPower Skate - Delivered by Skate Canada
Hockey Saskatchewan Skills Coach (Level 1)
Hockey Saskatchewan Power Skating Coach (Level 1)

Certification must be obtained by December 31, 2026.

The MHA must match the grant amount it intends to receive. The maximum matching grant is based on the MHA's total player registration during the 2025-26 season:

3,000+ players: $5,000
2,000+ players: $3,000
700+ players: $2,500
500+ players: $2,000
200+ players: $1,500
100+ players: $1,250
Less than 100 players: $1,000

A combination of receipts for instructor certification and power skating services is permitted. Please submit eligible receipts up to the maximum grant amount available to your MHA.

Online applications must be received by February 28, 2027.

NOTE: Receipts that were issued on or before December 31, 2026, are eligible for the MHA Matching Grant Program. Please submit ALL receipts together.

Associations may NOT apply for more than one (1) grant, therefore please ensure all receipts accompany the submission. Cost/expenses incurred between the date of submission and the date of payment will not be considered part of the MHA Matching Grant application.

Grants which are approved will be paid via cheque by Hockey Saskatchewan.

Organizations receiving grant payments from Hockey Saskatchewan are not considered association employees.

Grants are paid out one (1) time only to applicants who successfully meet MHA Matching Grant qualifications.

The deadline to submit this online application is Feburary 28, 2027.
