Provincial Playoff Regulations
4.06.01 Teams wanting to enter Provincial Playoffs must apply online and pay a fee of $75.00 to the Hockey Saskatchewan office by 5:00 pm on December 1st. Those applications received online after 5:00 pm on December 1st and prior to 5:00 pm on December 8th, shall pay a fee of $150.00 to enter provincial competition. No applications will be allowed after 5:00 pm on December 8th.
4.06.02 Male:
a) i) For Hockey Saskatchewan Provincial Playoff Competition, teams registered in Category AAA shall register a maximum of twenty eight players (28) on their certified roster. This number shall include a minimum of two (2) players clearly registered as goaltenders.
ii) For Teams registering to compete in Senior AAA, they cannot be registered in any other category of Provincial playoffs.
iii) For Teams registering to compete in Senior AAA, they must have been a registered team with Hockey Saskatchewan the previous season.
iv) Senior AAA rosters must be finalized by February 1st at 5:00 pm and those players must be the same as those registered on their team roster for league play.
b) i) For Hockey Saskatchewan Provincial Playoff Competition, teams registered in Categories A, B, C or D shall register on a Hockey Saskatchewan Provincial Team Registration and Affiliation Form. Teams shall be able to register twenty-five (25) players on the form. This number must include two (2) goaltenders. Players marked as “goaltenders” shall not be permitted to play any other position.
ii) In Senior Provincial Playoffs, teams registered in Categories B, C and D shall be allowed to add a maximum of three (3) Players to their League roster to participate in Senior Provincial Playoffs. These three (3) Players may be registered elsewhere on Senior teams in Saskatchewan, or, not registered on a team anywhere in Canada, provided the Senior Team registers them with Hockey Saskatchewan prior to the Provincial roster submission deadline.
iii) Senior A, B, C and D teams must return their Hockey Saskatchewan Provincial Playoff Team Registration and Affiliation Form to the General Manager for approval by 5:00 pm on December 30th. Teams in these categories may add a player who has been deleted from a Junior team up to January 11th, only if the team has an open roster spot on their Provincial Team Registration Form.
c) Provincial Playoff games in Category AAA shall be played with the minimum number of fifteen (15) registered players, of which two (2) must be goaltenders, as stated in Hockey Canada Regulation E1, and Category A, B, C & D shall be played with a minimum of twelve (12) registered players, of which one (1) must be a goaltender. Any team failing to comply with this regulation will be notified that they must post a $500.00 Performance Bond with the Hockey Saskatchewan General Manager prior to entering future Provincial Playoffs.
4.06.03 Female:
a) Senior teams shall be able to register twenty–five (25) players on a Hockey Saskatchewan Provincial Team Registration Form of which two (2) or more must be goaltenders. Players marked as goaltenders shall not be permitted to play any other position.
b) All Hockey Saskatchewan Provincial Playoff Team Registration and Affiliation Forms shall be returned to the General Manager for approval by 5:00 pm on December 15th for all categories.
c) Provincial Playoff games in Category A & B shall be played with a minimum of twelve (12) registered players, of which one (1) must be a goaltender. Any team failing to comply with this regulation will be notified that they must post a $500.00 Performance Bond with the Hockey Saskatchewan General Manager prior to entering future Provincial Playoffs.
4.06.04
a) All Hockey Saskatchewan Provincial Playoff Team Registration and Affiliation Forms must include the following information; Closest City, Town or Village; Hometown, Exception, Import or Non Import.
b) Hockey Saskatchewan Provincial Playoff Team Registration and Affiliation Forms must be approved by the Hockey Saskatchewan General Manager before players can compete in Hockey Saskatchewan Playoff games.
c) The addition of any players to a League roster for Provincials will result in that team being deemed a "new" roster and therefore prohibit any affiliates (APs) from being registered.
d) Hockey Saskatchewan Provincial Playoff Team Registration and Affiliation Forms will be circulated to all teams within the category they are registered to compete in.
4.06.05 All teams participating in Hockey Saskatchewan Provincial Playoffs must be ready to proceed by January 20th (no games played prior).
4.06.06 Hockey Saskatchewan Provincial Playoffs shall have preference over League or Tournament play.
4.06.07
a) A Senior team that withdraws from Provincial Playoffs after the playoff draw is set and prior to the commencement of the first series, shall pay a penalty of $500.00 to Hockey Saskatchewan. In the event that the draw cannot be altered to accommodate the non–offending team, this penalty will be used to reimburse the non–offending team.
b) A Senior team that is expelled from Provincial Playoffs due to the use of illegal players or violation of population guidelines, shall pay a penalty of $500.00 to Hockey Saskatchewan and be suspended from Provincial Competition for the following season.
c) A Senior team which commences a Provincial playoff series and fails to return a game shall pay a penalty of $2,500.00 plus $2.00 per kilometre round trip and may be suspended from Provincial competition for the following season. This penalty shall be paid to Hockey Saskatchewan and will be used to reimburse the non–offending team.
4.06.08 Players on teams that withdraw from Provincial playoffs shall remain members of that registered team for the current playing season.
4.06.09
a) All Senior A, B, C & D Provincial Playoffs shall be a best of three (3) series.
b) All Senior AAA Provincial Playoffs shall be a best of three (3) series with the final being a best of five (5) series.
c) If at the end of any game the score is tied, Hockey Canada Official Hockey Overtime Rule 10.16 will prevail.
d) Each series must be completed by the specified date for completion.
4.06.10
a) The designated home team on the Provincial Playoff draw shall have the choice of either Games 1 and 3 at home or Games 2 and 3 at home.
b) In the final series, the home team shall be in the south or west in even years, unless agreed otherwise by both teams.
4.06.11
a) All dates must be agreed to and notification given to Hockey Saskatchewan ninety-six (96) hours prior to the commencement of each series.
b) In a 3-game series, where a 3rd game is necessary, the visiting team shall receive the greater of 50% of the net revenue (gross revenue minus rink rental of $400 plus on–ice officials fees and travel expenses) or a guarantee of$1,000.00 plus $2.00 per km to a maximum of 300 km one way.
NOTE: The host team shall permit the visiting team to place a responsible person in the box office area to verify the ticket sales, if the visiting team requests to.
4.06.12 Teams scheduling Provincial Playoff games, when ice conditions will not permit playing, shall compensate the travelling team a minimum of $2.00 per km round trip.
