REGINA, Sask. – Hockey Saskatchewan has announced the 20 players who will represent the province at the 2025 WHL Cup, set for October 22-26 in Red Deer, Alta.
The final Male Under-16 (U16) roster is made up of two goaltenders, six defencemen, and 12 forwards from across the province. These athletes will wear the Saskatchewan jersey with pride as they compete against Alberta, Manitoba, and British Columbia in a tournament designed to showcase 2010-born players from across Western Canada.
“This group has grown tremendously since the regional camps last December,” said Joel Houseman, Director of Operations for Sask First. “The players have put in the work through evaluations and training opportunities, and they’re ready for the challenge ahead. The WHL Cup is the pinnacle of this high-performance program, and we’re excited to see this team represent the province in Red Deer.”
Since its launch in 2009, the WHL Cup has become a key event on the development calendar for young players. Saskatchewan has one gold medal in tournament history, earned in 2019 with a 4-2 victory over Manitoba in the championship game.
The 2025 event marks the 12th edition of the WHL Cup, hosted at the Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer. Team Saskatchewan will open the round-robin schedule on October 22, 2025, with the puck drop to be announced later.

Hockey Saskatchewan extends its appreciation to Maddox Schultz (Regina), who was selected for the inter-provincial competition next month but is unable to attend.
