REGINA, Sask. – Hockey Saskatchewan is proud to unveil the coaching staffs selected to lead the province’s top talent through the Sask First High-Performance Program at the 2027 Canada Winter Games.

Tasked with guiding and developing athletes on and off the ice, these coaches will shape Team Saskatchewan’s Female Under-18 (U18) and Male Under-16 (U16) squads as they prepare for the national competition held next year.

“Many of our coaches have returned from the 2024-25 Sask First Program or have advanced through the system thanks to their dedication and commitment,” said Joel Houseman, Director of Operations for Sask First. “These coaching staffs’ experience, include two coaches from the 2023 Canada Winter Games where our boys’ team earned silver and our girls’ team finished sixth, will be invaluable as they lead Saskatchewan’s top athletes towards next season’s national competition. We’re proud to have such knowledgeable and passionate leaders guiding our players both on and off the ice.”

The Female U18 staff will coach the province’s top 20 players born in 2009 and 2010 at the national championship, taking place March 7-15, 2027, in Quebec City.

On the boys’ side, the Male U16 coaches will prepare their team for the 2027 Canada Winter Games from February 26 to March 7, 2027, which is a major stepping stone for Saskatchewan’s top 2011-born players.
