SJHL Salutes Long-time Official McGregor

REGINA, Sask. – The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) announces the retirement of longtime official Tanner McGregor, who concludes an outstanding officiating career spanning more than 15 years.

A native of Saskatoon, McGregor began officiating in the SJHL in 2011 and went on to work over 350 regular-season and playoff games. Over the course of his career, he established himself as one of the league’s most trusted and respected officials, known for his professionalism, consistency, and commitment to the game.

McGregor’s officiating resume extends far beyond the SJHL, highlighted by numerous national and international assignments. His accolades include appearances at the 2014 TELUS Cup, the 2015 Canada Winter Games, and the 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. He was also selected to officiate the 2017 CHL Canada/Russia Series and the 2016 CJHL Western Canada Cup.

In subsequent years, McGregor continued to represent the SJHL with distinction, earning assignments at the 2018 World Junior A Challenge, the 2019 U SPORTS University Cup, and the 2022 Centennial Cup. Most recently, he officiated the 2024 Western Hockey League Championship Series, further underscoring his standing among the game’s elite officials.

Now 35, McGregor balances his hockey career with his professional role as a Business Development Consultant at Sun Life Financial, as well as his roles as a husband to wife Alex and father to Brooks (a U7 hockey player) and Blake, who is 3.

The SJHL thanks Tanner McGregor for his years of service and commitment to the league and the game of hockey.
