The Saskatchewan Hockey Association (SHA) is pleased to announce the recipients of the SHA Awards for this past season.

On an annual basis the SHA accepts nominations from across the province for Coach of the Year and Volunteers of the Year (North and South) in recognition of their efforts in promoting and improving the great game of hockey in Saskatchewan.

Congratulations and thank you for your dedication to Rodney Stang – Coach of the Year from Macklin; Marcel Dube – Volunteer of the Year (South region - St. Brieux) and John Jangula Volunteer of the Year (North region – North Battleford). Over the course of the summer, the official presentations were made to all three recipients.

RODNEY STANG - COACH OF THE YEAR
Stang has played an instrumental role in Macklin Minor Hockey through his involvement on the association’s committee and as a coach for about eight years which includes recently leading the Midget Boys to a league and provincial championship. Stang always exhibits principles of fair play, both on and off the ice and earns the respect of his players and their parents as a patient and supportive coach.

MARCEL DUBE - VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR, SOUTH REGION
Dube has dedicated over 20 years mentoring and leading the community of St. Brieux in the are of officiating. Understanding the financial challenges to small minor hockey associations, Dube saw an need for local officials and though there was no better way to volunteer than on the ice. Dube remains active and sought after in the community and those around St Brieux. In addition he continues to dedicate time to mentoring new and younger officials in the community.

JOHN JANGULA - VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR, NORTH REGION
Jangula has been involved with the Battlefords Minor Hockey Association for many years including spending the past 12 years with their Board of Directors. He spends countless hours volunteering in a variety of capacities and sits on additional committees and boards including for the Midget AA Stars and Midget AAA Sharks. Jangula is well respected by everyone in the local hockey community for his passion for grassroots hockey and the development of all players.
