Registration Procedure

5.04.01    Junior A

a)    Teams wishing to enter Junior A competition within the jurisdiction of Hockey Saskatchewan must apply to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League for membership no later than the League’s annual meeting.  If the application is refused or not considered by this time the team may apply to Hockey Saskatchewan to have its case considered.  Applications for membership beyond this date may be considered by the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

b)    All players must be registered before playing. Coaches in violation shall be suspended for no less than five (5) games.

c)    i)    Junior A teams shall be provided with forty-five (45) Hockey Canada/Hockey Saskatchewan player cards and may sign and register not more than twenty-five (25) eligible players at any one time up to January 10th.

    ii)    On this date, all such teams must reduce their players’ list and their unused Hockey Canada/Hockey Saskatchewan player cards to twenty-five (25), at least two (2) of whom must be goaltenders.

    iii)    These lists must be submitted in full on the dates specified above to the Branch General Manager.

    iv)    The players so dropped may register and play with any other team if eligible.

    v)    Any team failing to abide by this regulation shall be declared ineligible for further competition until provisions are met, provided further, that non–compliance shall result in all players being declared released from membership with the team (free agent).

d)    No team shall receive more cards than stated in c) regardless of injuries or player availability except under Rule E–84 of the Hockey Canada Rule Book.

5.04.02    Junior B

a)    i)    Teams wishing to enter Junior B competition within the jurisdiction of Hockey Saskatchewan must apply to the Prairie Junior Hockey League for membership no later than the League’s annual meeting.  If the application is refused or not considered by this time the team may apply to Hockey Saskatchewan to have its case considered.  Applications for membership beyond this date may be considered by the Prairie Junior Hockey League.

    ii)    Only Junior B teams participating in the Prairie Junior Hockey League with at least three (3) teams and a 24 game Junior B League schedule in the current year will be eligible to enter playoffs to decide a provincial champion.

b)    All players must be registered before playing. Coaches in violation shall be suspended for no less than five (5) games.

c)    i)    Junior B teams shall be provided with forty-five (45) Hockey Canada/Hockey Saskatchewan player cards and may sign and register not more than twenty-five (25) eligible players at any one time up to January 10th.

    ii)    On this date, all teams must reduce their player list and their unused Hockey Canada/Hockey Saskatchewan player cards to twenty-five (25), at least two (2) of whom must be goaltenders.

e)    i)    Not withstanding 5.01.01, the maximum number of players that are twenty-one (21) years old will be two (2).

    ii)    The twenty-one (21) year old players, that are carded by any Junior B team must have been carded with that Junior B team the previous season as a twenty (20) year old and must have been on that Junior B teams final February 10th roster and must have played at least a minimum of ten (10) league and/or playoff games with that Junior B team the previous season.

    iii)    Exception: A new Junior B team in Hockey Saskatchewan will be permitted to card a maximum of two (2) twenty-one (21) year old players, that were carded by any Junior B team in Hockey Saskatchewan the previous season as a twenty (20) year old and must have been on one of Hockey Saskatchewan's Junior B teams final February 10th roster and must have played at least a minimum of ten (10) league and/or playoff games with that Junior B team the previous season.

    iv)    Each Junior B team will be allowed to card a maximum of eleven (11) players that are twenty (20) years old or twenty-one (21) years old.

NOTE:   1)    eleven (11) - twenty (20) year old players
              2)    ten (10) - twenty (20) year old players and one (1) twenty-one (21) year old player
              3)    nine (9) - twenty (20) year old players and two (2) twenty-one (21) year old players

5.04.03    Junior C

a)    i)    Application to register teams and leagues in Junior C must be received by the Hockey Saskatchewan General Manager together with the registration fee prior to their first game.

    ii)    Only Junior C teams participating in a bonafide league with at least three (3) teams and a 12 game Junior C League schedule in the current year will be eligible to enter playoffs to decide a provincial champion.

b)    All Junior C players must be registered before playing (roster submitted for approval by General Manager).  Coaches in violation shall be suspended for no less than five (5) games.

c)    i)    Junior C teams shall be provided with forty-five (45) Hockey Canada/Hockey Saskatchewan player cards and may sign and register not more than twenty-five (25) eligible players at any one time up to January 10th.
