Affiliations
5.05.01 i) The names of affiliated players must be filed by the team with the General Manager prior to using an affiliate player (s). Additions can be made to the affiliation list until the January 15th deadline.
ii) Once a player is Affiliated to a team, they cannot be Released as an affiliate from that team for that season unless first released from the team that they are currently Registered on.
5.05.02 Teams who wish to affiliate a player must notify the player and the player’s team of their intent to affiliate them. Teams wishing to affiliate a Minor hockey aged player must also notify the player’s parent of the intent to affiliate them.
5.05.03
a) Players may play only ten (10) games as an affiliate to teams categorized as Junior A all season until the team they are registered with has completed their season, upon which time they may play the remainder of the season with their affiliate team. For players not affiliated to teams categorized as Junior A, the number of games shall be unlimited.
b) Goaltenders are only charged with a game when they actually participate in the game.
5.05.04 Permanent affiliates are not permitted and are defined as a player who is registered on a team of a lower category or age classification for the sole purpose of being available to the team he is affiliated to on a full–time basis.
5.05.05 A team may have affiliated with it nineteen (19) players, of which two (2) must be goaltenders, from a lower division, age classification or category of hockey.
5.05.06
a) i) A Junior B team may affiliate a maximum of five (5) U18 AAA players registered anywhere in the province. These players will be restricted to playing ten (10) games as an affiliate until their U18 AAA team they are registered with has completed their season, upon which time they may play the remainder of the season with the Junior B team they are affiliated to.
ii) City based Junior B teams may be allowed to specially affiliate players from teams in Minor Hockey that are within the city they are based with, plus a maximum of three (3) specially affiliated players whose parents reside within a 160 km radius of the team’s centre.
iii) Non-city based Junior B teams will be allowed to specially affiliate players from teams in Minor Hockey whose parents reside within a 160 km radius of the team’s centre. If a city falls within said radius and has a city based Junior B team, then the non-city based Junior B team may be allowed a maximum of three (3) specially affiliated players whose parents reside within that city.
iv) Non-city based Junior B teams will be allowed to specially affiliate a maximum of three (3) players whose parents reside in a city that falls within the 160 km radius of its centre.
v) Junior B teams may be allowed to specially affiliate players from any Junior C team registered in the province.
b) Junior C teams shall be allowed to affiliate players from the Minor Hockey Association in the centre they are based within and any U18 players that reside within a 160 km radius of the sponsoring center of the Junior C team, provided the players home center does not have a Junior C team. Residents of Geographic Subdivisions 2-6 will only be allowed to affiliate to a Junior C team that is registered in their home center.
5.05.07
a) Affiliation of first year eligible U18 Players (fifteen (15) year olds) to Major Junior and Junior A and B hockey teams shall be permitted with the following restrictions:
i) A player may Affiliate to a Major Junior Team and a Junior A or B Team in the same Season and play a maximum of five (5) games with each Team. A Player may not Affiliate to both a Junior A and a Junior B Team.
ii) A Team may Affiliate no more than five (5) Players for up to a maximum of five (5) games each during the Season.
iii) A Player shall not participate as an Affiliate, except under emergency conditions, when the Player's registered Team is playing or when the Player has semester exams at school.
iv) When the Player's registered Team is finished its Season, the Player may Affiliate an unlimited number of games with his Affiliate Team or Teams for the balance of the Season.
v) The Affiliate Team may only have one (1) fifteen (15) year old Affiliate Player in its line-up per game.
vi) Any Player affiliation occurring as a result of the National Junior/Under 17/Canada Winter Games/World Junior A Challenge will not count in the five (5) game total per team.
b) A Player sixteen (16) years of age or older may be selected as an Affiliate Player with two of the following in the same season:
i) A Major Junior Team;
ii) Junior A Team; and
iii) Junior B Team.
5.05.08 The official scorer shall request that all affiliated players who are dressed for the game be designated on the game sheet by the use of the symbol “A.P.” after their name.
